TCI - Day Five

Happy to wake up in the hotel on the island we wanted to be on and being the last day for Brady and Theresa we decided to take it easy and well do what you're supposed to do on an island vacation, soak up the sun and relax. And eat lobster fajitas.

Ben and Brady took out the kayaks from our hotel in search of some off shore snorkeling opportunities. I'm not sure about the snorkeling but at one point they capsized and subsequently lost Ben's snorkel mask. His good snorkel/scuba mask. So the price of the vacation keeps going up. But it's still worth every penny.

Next we headed down to Grace Bay Beach where the sand is like baby powder and the resorts are numerous. So even though it wasn't the abandoned beaches we had grown accustomed to - there were probably 40 people on the two mile stretch - it was a lot of fun. We went snorkeling at the Coral Gardens where most of the coral was roped off because it is potentially hazardous so just when I was considering swimming back to shore I heard a familiar chomping sound - parrot fish! Like 30 of them. Watching and listening to parrot fish chomp the coral is so much fun. Of course our underwater camera decided to stop working at this point so I have no pictures of the rainbow scaled beauties. But on to the lobster fajitas. I had read about the only Mexican restaurant (Somewhere on the Beach) on the island and their excellent guacamole before we came and while I had originally thought that we would stick to more local fare, the need for some Mexican cuisine won out. And had it won out earlier in the week we probably would have eaten here every day. We were planning on going to dinner elsewhere in about an hour or so but we all needed a snack. The guac was so extremely good and Brady ordered some lobster fajitas that made me rethink what I had thought earlier about lobster not really being all it's cracked up to be. Sorry for eating all of your fajitas Brady - but we didn't want you to be too full for dinner.

In order to get hungry for dinner, because nothing burns calories or works up an appetite like sitting on the beach, we went and sat on yet another beach and read and/or napped.

Then we went and had ribs and chicken at the Turtle Cove Marina to end another great day.
